Thanks to Viacom for hosting the September edition of the Young@Workplace Pride meeting!
The delegation, representing several Workplace Pride members, were welcomed by Viacom LGBT Network Leader, Maarten Trijsburg. After a tour of their amazing building at Amsterdam Noord, the delegation was shown the control room, from which all Viacom’s tv channels (Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, etc….) are sent into the world, and gained a great view of Amsterdam from atop their riverside terrace.
Fully inspired by the innovative environment of Viacom, the meeting started out by telling the group what Young@Workplace Pride stands for and what they strive to deliver. Namely, the inclusion of young LGBT people into working environments and the awareness by employers of how integrating this group more effectively can benefit all stakeholders. This triggered interesting discussions and many viewpoints from companies of different sizes were shared.
Following this opening session, smaller groups were formed to give the discussions more depth and to be as concrete as possible for the Young@WPP program. Results from this brainstorm session will form the main agenda points for the next meeting, in which a more in-depth and extended program will be defined.
” We all look back on a very succesful session” said Boyd de Ruiter of KPN & Program Mgr for Y@WP. “All potential new members declared their interest in joining Young@WPP on a regular basis and I personally am very exited to have experienced not only their enthusiasm but also their creativity. Each and every one of the new members will form a great addition to Young@Workplace Pride! Many thanks again to Viacom for hosting us, it was a truly special night.” said de Ruiter.
